Planetrees - North East Victoria Tourism
Beechworth region enjoys four distinct and magical seasons attracting visitors to explore this unique cluster of valleys and historic towns all year round. It offers visitors gourmet and wine experiences, history and culture, scenic drives and walks, cylcing, festivals, music, bushwalking, garden viewing, skiing, fishing, rock climbing and much more.
Beechworth is recognised as Australia’s finest historic gold-mining town - sitting at the base of the Australian Alps on the North East Victorian border region. The splendid Victorian architecture and wide, tree-lined streets reflect the grandeur of the gold-rush era.
Modern Beechworth boasts a good choice of alfresco cafes dotted along historic streetscapes, fine dining, bistros, anaritsan brewery and world-class vineyards and wine lists. Specialty shops and gourmet local produce add to the unique street ambience of Beechworth.
Wine and Gourmet offerings are plentiful around the region between Beechworth, Milawa and Rutherglen. Beechworth is home to some of Australia's world class wine makers (Giaconda, Castagnia, Sorrenberg, Pennyweight) - to name a few. Our gourmet experiences offer a wide variety of experiences including Michael Ryan's two-hat restaurant "Provenance", Brown Brother's "Epicure" in Milawa alongside gourmet cafes, artisan breweries and foody pubs.
Beechworth is home to many talented artists and artisans from around the world. The town is rich with galleries, antiques, pottery and old wares. Beechworth provides a lovely cocktail of culture, adventure and history.
